We at take your privacy as a user of our Career Site very seriously. Any information you give us on or via this website will be used by us in accordance with the Privacy Statement below. Please note that this Privacy Statement only applies to information we collect via this Career Site.
For the purposes of data protection laws, we are a data controller of the information relating to you described in this statement. A controller is a person that decides why and how the information is used and otherwise processed.
1.Introduction and changes to this Privacy Statement
We endeavour to protect your personal privacy. We provide this Privacy Statement to explain what we may do with any personal information that we collect from you or that you provide us. We may need to update this Privacy Statement from time to time. We therefore recommend that you check regularly the Career Site to ensure that you have read the most recent version of this Privacy Statement.
2. Your consent to this Privacy Statement
By providing your personal information to us, you signify your acceptance of our Privacy Statement and consent to the collection, use and disclosure by us of your personal information as described in this Privacy Statement. If you do not agree to any part of this Privacy Statement, please do not provide us with your personal information. If, once you have provided such information, you wish it to be amended or removed altogether from our systems, please let us know and we will endeavour to comply with your request (see section 9 – Information on retention and unsubscribing).
Further processing of your personal information, will be processed as assisting us in our consideration of your application and as to whether to enter into a contract of employment (or engagement) with you. We may also have to process your personal information to comply with legal or regulatory obligations (e.g. defend, respond or conduct legal proceedings) and to pursue our legitimate interests as a business (e.g. equal opportunities).
3. What do we mean by personal information?
Personal information (or data) is information about an identifiable individual, as defined by applicable law. In the context of the Career Site, such information may include your name, address, e-mail address, and education, professional and employment history. Personal information for these purposes does not include aggregated information or a business’s name, address and phone number that does not relate to an identifiable individual. It therefore does not include aggregate data which we may collect to understand the users of the Career Site as a whole and to allow us to improve the site.
4. Your consent to us collecting and processing your personal information
You can decide what personal information you provide to us. To help in the recruitment process Volkswagen Group Ireland collects personal information about you from your profile or CV as submitted by you to the Career Site and which may include, for instance, your name, address, email address, education and employment history, all information that is typically included in a job application. You may choose to provide us with personal information if, for example, you: contact us with an enquiry; register on the site, submit your CV or other form with your personal information. You may also submit personal information by making requests for us to provide you with information. By providing any personal information to us, you are confirming you understand fully and clearly consent to the collection and processing of such information, including, as necessary, the transfer of such personal information to our franchise partners where relevant and appropriate.
5. Sensitive personal information
Sensitive personal information (or data) is information as to an identifiable individual’s:
(a) racial or ethnic origin;
(b) political opinions;
(c) religious beliefs or other beliefs of a similar nature,
(d) membership of a trade union,
(e) genetic or biometric data,
(f) physical or mental health or condition;

For the most part, we do NOT require as part of your application to the Career Site that you provide us with any sensitive personal information. If we do require such information for a particular role, this will be made clear as part of that specific application process. Should you provide to us sensitive personal information – for example, should you advise us of your membership of a particular political party – you explicitly consent to us collecting, using and processing that information in accordance with this Privacy Statement.
6. How we may use your personal information
Once we have collected your personal information through the Career Site, we may use and/or disclose it in one or more of the following ways:
Recruitment Opportunities – We may use your personal information in order to consider you for recruitment opportunities within Volkswagen Group Ireland or our franchise partners. This includes positions for which you have specifically applied for and positions which we feel, from your application, you may be suitable for and which may interest you. We may then use your personal information to communicate with you about these opportunities.
Analysis – We may use information for internal recruitment and marketing analysis, for example, to assess trends amongst our potential staff and consumers or to measure the amount of traffic to our websites. We may also provide this information to certain third party agencies acting on our behalf, for example those who assist us with recruitment or evaluate the effectiveness of our service. We may also share non-personal information with others, such as our service providers and advertisers, in aggregate anonymous form, which means that the information will not contain any personally identifiable information about you.
Sale or Transfer – In the event of a sale, merger, consolidation, change in control, transfer of substantial assets, financing, reorganisation or liquidation [of Volkswagen Group Ireland or a related entity], we may transfer or assign to third parties information concerning your relationship with us, including personally identifiable information that you have provided to us.
Legal purposes – We may collect, use and/or disclose your personal information if permitted by law or required to do so by law or where we believe such action is necessary in order to detect, protect or defend us and/or other third parties against error negligence, breach of contract, theft, fraud and other illegal or harmful activity, to comply with our audit and security requirements, and to audit compliance with or corporate policies, procedures, legal and contractual obligations.
7. Disclosure of personal information
In addition to disclosures required for the uses identified above, from time to time we may disclose personal information to the extent necessary to:

We take the security of your personal information seriously and have put in place appropriate technical and organisational measures designed to safeguard the information we collect and use. However, the transmission of information via the internet and e-mail is not completely secure and we cannot guarantee the security of your information transmitted to our site. We therefore recommend that you do not include confidential, proprietary or sensitive information in your application or subsequent e-mails. We do have online tools that can allow you to send information securely to us, please request these from our HR team.
9. Information on retention and unsubscribing
As part of our commitment to your privacy, we do not seek to hold your personal information for any longer than necessary. If however you have asked us to keep you informed of new positions within on an ongoing basis, we will continue to retain your personal information which we may use to keep you updated on such opportunities.
10. Data transfers outside Ireland and the European Economic Area (EEA)
Due to the international nature of our business, there may be some instances where your information is processed or stored outside of the UK and the EU. In those instances, we will ensure that appropriate safeguards are in place for that transfer and storage as required by applicable law.
11. Automated decision-making
We do not envisage that any processing of the information that provide in this process will make decisions that have a legal or significant effect on you will be carried out using purely automated means, however we will update this policy and inform you if this position changes.
12. Your data protection rights
You have a number of rights in relation to your personal information under data protection law. In relation to most rights, we will ask you for information to confirm your identity and, where applicable, to help us search for your personal information. Except in rare cases, we will respond to you within 1 month of receipt of any request (including any identification documents requested).
